We went out to breakfast at Wishbone this morning. They were very busy, but we had good service and tasty food–especially Ben’s homefries. Red potatoes pan fried, perfectly crispy with some kind of curry powder and awesome onions that taste like onion rings without the batter. I got the corned beef hash, which was kind of lukewarm. My scrambled eggs were delicious and the coffee was amazing! Ben’s shrimp creole omelette was very shrimpy.
Afterwards, we bought a Northern pike and a few fresh shrimp at the fish market on Fulton street. Afterwards, we headed to the Best Buy on Roosevelt (Joffco Plaza) to get a stereo cable and play their Nintendo Wii. We stopped by Kriser’s pet food store to get Waverly a bag of Serengheti dry cat food, a few cans of Tiki and Weruva wet cat food, and our new corn-based, toilet flushable “World’s Best” cat litter which smells a little funky (when soiled), but being able to flush it daily makes it bearable for me (and Ben says he doesn’t smell it).
As we were driving back into the Kinzie Station parking garage, we saw two beautiful pie pumpkins sitting next to the dumpster. I promptly jumped out the car and rescued them from an unedible demise. Now, they sit in my living room waiting for me to find the right recipe to make an awesome pie or bread (squash can sit around for several weeks without rotting or spoiling so I feel no rush). It’s my best dumpster dive find in the last few months!
