I’ve been working on starting to write my Ph.D. thesis. It’s such a painful, emotional process of bringing together all the research I’ve done in the last 5 years and trying to weave it into a coherent story. To keep me entertained during these internal struggles, I’ve been distracting myself by looking at Craigslist ads for apartments in Baltimore, riding the metra to/from downtown Chicago, observing my cat, and of course, eating. Here are some photos of my recent endeavors.
Today they dyed the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day. I thought maybe the fluorescent green dye would diffuse into the part of the river near my house, so I went to check things out at the riverbank near Merchandise Mart. The water didn’t look any more green than usual. My husband informed me that the river flows east into Lake Michigan so the greenness would not travel further west towards my house. I have some nice photos anyways.
A few weeks ago Ben took me to Bleeding Heart Bakery, where I’ve been dying to go ever since I saw their website. (I like watching Ace of Cakes on the Food Network) The cupcakes (chocolate and red velvet, shown below) were awesome and so was the bran muffin we got while we were there.
Lastly, some Waverly photos.
